Why me? Why Not Me? A Brave New Beginning

Have you ever caught yourself thinking:
"If only..."
"Why me?"
"I wish I could..."
"I don’t have time for..."
I know I have! I’ve wished to be healthier, more active, thinner, stronger—you name it. I’ve also used the classic “I don’t have time” excuse more times than I can count. But at some point, I had to stop and ask myself: Is that really true? Or am I just standing in my own way?

The Power of a Mindset Shift
We all reach a moment when something inside us shifts. A voice says, Enough is enough. I can do this. I WILL do this. This is your moment. Right here. Right now. It’s your Brave New Beginning.
But how do you move past doubt and actually make a change? It starts with small, intentional steps.
Step 1: Acknowledge the Excuses (And Call Them Out!)
Excuses are sneaky. They sound logical and reasonable. But when you break them down, they often don’t hold up. Ask yourself:
Is this really true? (Do you truly not have time, or is it about prioritizing?)
What’s stopping me? (Is it fear? Self-doubt? Perfectionism?)
If a friend had this excuse, what would I tell them?
By questioning your excuses, you take away their power.
Step 2: Start Small – The 1% Rule
Change doesn’t have to be drastic. In fact, lasting change happens gradually. Try the 1% rule: improve by just 1% each day.
Want to be healthier? Swap soda for water today.
Want to be more active? Take a five-minute walk.
Want to read more? Read one page.
It’s about progress, not perfection.
Step 3: Reframe "Why Me?" to "Why NOT Me?"
Instead of thinking, Why do I have to struggle?, flip it: Why NOT me?
Why not be the one who breaks the cycle?
Why not be the one who proves it’s possible?
Why not be the one who inspires others?
You are capable. You are strong. You just have to believe it.
Step 4: Build the Habit – Make It Easy & Obvious
Set yourself up for success:
Make it easy – Want to work out? Lay out your clothes the night before.
Make it obvious – Put reminders where you’ll see them.
Make it rewarding – Celebrate small wins!
Step 5: Give Yourself Grace
Change is not linear. Some days, you’ll feel unstoppable. Other days, you’ll struggle. That’s okay! Progress is still progress, even if it’s slow. Keep going. Keep trying. Keep showing up.
Today is Your Brave New Beginning
This is it. Right now. No more waiting for the "perfect time." No more doubting if you're capable. Because you are.
So take that first step—no matter how small—and own your Brave New Beginning.
You got this!
